Book Recommendation - The Weight of Air

One of the newer voices of inspirational historical romance is Kimberly Duffy. She writes with a solid depth and her books are often a bit heavier than my typical reads, but have been worth it! Her upcoming release, The Weight of Air is no  different. Delving into the circus life in the turn of the century (the 20th century, that is), this book was different from any other I've read and was altogether enjoyable! Here's as little bit about the book.

In this book, you'll find:⁣

In 1911, Mabel MacGinnis is Europe's strongest woman and has performed beside her father in Manzo Brothers Circus her entire life. But at his unexpected death, she loses everything she's ever known and sets off in the company of acrobat Jake Cunningham for America in hope of finding the mother she's just discovered is still alive.⁣⁣⁣

Isabella Moreau, the nation's most feted aerialist, has given everything to the circus. But age and injury now threaten her security, and Isabella, stalked by old fears, makes a choice that risks everything. When her daughter Mabel appears alongside the man who never wanted to see Isabella again, Isabella is forced to face the truth of where, and in what, she derives her worth.⁣⁣⁣

In the author's note, Ms. Duffy indicates that personal experiences of post-partum depression and dealing with suicide came into play into her characters in this book. The darkness that Polly feels and that Paul experienced is written from the author's own life. But so is the hope that she writes of. Ms. Duffy is a Cincinnatian and is within 2 degrees of separation for me due to our close vicinity. I've enjoyed following her personal story on social media and would encourage fans of her writing, as well as homeschooling and gluten free living to look her up!

This book is expected to release February 7, 2023, wherever books are sold. Pre-orders are important to authors (especially in this time of shortages), so if you know you want to get it, please pre-order from your favorite retailer!
